Greater corporate sustainability thanks to a cardboard baler
Sustainability is a core value of our corporate strategy and is very close to our hearts. To make production even more resource-efficient and efficient, we have recently been using a cardboard baler from Model. Model AG is the leading packaging manufacturer in Switzerland. It develops, produces and supplies intelligent, innovative and high-quality display and packaging solutions made of corrugated cardboard. The collaboration between ISA and the Thurgau family business sends a strong signal in the area of environment and sustainability. In this way, another cycle can be closed.
With the new cardboard baler, we are endeavouring to return the accumulated waste cardboard – consisting, for example, of shipping boxes or yarn reels – to the cycle. The 15-20 tonnes of cardboard waste generated each year are continuously pressed and, thanks to the compaction process, can be stored in a space-saving manner. Furthermore, the machine relieves the workload of employees. The laborious dismantling of boxes by hand is eliminated. The compact cardboard bales stack very well and can be handed over to the collector quickly and easily.
When new cardboard material is delivered by Model, the pressed waste cardboard is taken away. This process saves transport routes and empty runs. After the cardboard bales have been collected, the old material is broken down and processed into new corrugated base paper. A new packaging cycle begins – residual materials and supposed waste become a valuable new raw material.
